How Community Over Competition Will Benefit Your Business

Business besties are so important to have in your corner when running a business! Don't you agree? Whether you work in a hospitality, product-based, or service-based business like us—it’s always a good idea to build a solid community of fellow business owners.

Shockingly, this is a new concept! So often we think,

“Wait, aren’t they your competition?”

In reality, yes! They may just be! But, it's important to distance yourself from that belief. Amber says it this way:

"I have built a strong relationship with my business besties. I trust them with all of the ins and outs of my business. The only way this type of friendship works is to understand that there is ALWAYS enough work to go around for everyone!

All of these lovely ladies are designers, business owners, and creatives! They have been incredible resources for my business! We are a safe space to bounce new ideas, tools, and business plans. We all specialize in our own different aspects of design, so we are ALWAYS teaching, learning, and growing together FROM each other!"

So, now that you’ve met mine. Let’s talk about the perks of a “Business Bestie”!

1. They really get it.

Business besties deeply and truly know the struggle, wins, and emotions that come within running a business -- and more specifically for us, with operating a creative business.

2. They help you get out of your own way.

They're the perfect backboard for idea curation and strategy sessions! Business besties remind you of who you are (and who you’re not). They encourage you AND celebrate with you. We all need that kind of support as business owners!

3. They grow alongside you.

A rising tide raises all ships, and business besties can often be the current that keeps you floating. It's so helpful to have that safe space -- to learn from each other’s mistakes and discover better practices together. In the midst of the hustle, sometimes all we need is someone to run that race BESIDE us.

From accountability, to fresh ideas, empathy and support, or just the occasional venting…they get it. As we mentioned, a "business bestie" is there in the trenches beside you. They understand what you're walking through or struggling with because they're walking the same road. Whether it's a quick coffee with a fellow business owner, or a walk through a park with a mentor, take time to invest in these relationships. They could truly save your life and your business some day.
