4 Ways To Give Back To The Town That Built You
We LOVE that most of our clients are in the Nashville area! This stems directly from years of our team putting themselves out there to build relationships, cultivate friendships, and do a lot of “non-salesy” networking! 🙌BUT, have you noticed that we post A LOT about Ohio businesses too, specifically Coldwater? Ever wondered why?
….well, you guessed it! It’s our owner’s hometown!
Most people that leave Small Town, USA for big city lights don’t look back. But if you know anything about Amber's heart, she is a firm believer of building the community that has built her!
Hometown Heroism (v.) The act of using your unique gifts to invest and pour back into the community that the planted roots and raised you to be the person you are today.
This trickles down into our team, which is why we are so passionate about connecting and flourishing in Coldwater, Ohio! We might not physically be there, but our hearts are, and that’s the most important part! You might recognize some of our clients like Tailspin Brewing Co., Rooster Joe Coffee, and Tri Star Career Compact!
Here are some ways to uniquely invest in your hometown through your business:
1. Rekindle Old Connections.
No, we don’t mean reaching out to your high school sweetheart. But reaching out to previous teachers, coaches, employers, etc. By sending a quick connection email to genuinely reach out to see how they are doing and letting them know what you’re doing now allows you to start the conversation, rekindle the connection, and see how you could help serve them.
2. Surprise hello, with sweets included.
We promise, no one from your hometown will turn you down if you bring them goodies from where you are located now, homemade baked goods, or sweets from a local bakery! It’s a great way to say thank you for how they have affected your life, impacted who you are today, and in result… supported your business. Oh, what business you ask? ;)
3. Speak to the younger you.
If you’ve made your passion your business, why not share your experience and give the younger you some practical advice and encouragement? Send a friendly email to one of your previous high school teachers or principal and let them know that you will be in town, what you’re doing now, and request to schedule a visit to speak to the classroom relevant to your business. The students will ohh and ahhhh over the thought of making their passion into a career… just like you successfully did. We promise you will leave just as inspired and fulfilled as the students you speak to.
Last, but not least…
4. Find creative ways to give back.
Are you now a local restaurant owner? Offer to sponsor and cater an upcoming luncheon at your college where all proceeds benefit the school. Are you now a financial planner? Offer to speak at an upcoming Chamber event about how to effectively budget business finances for a better tomorrow. Are you now the owner of a boutique branding agency? ;) Ask if there are community events or education fundraisers that you could volunteer your branding services!
There are so many ways to volunteer your time, talents, and resources to give back to the people who invested in you. Where are your hometown roots? Do you go back just to visit your family? Have you ever tried using your unique gifts to help build the community that built you? 🏠Next time you are home, we challenge you to shed more of your light and what you have to offer to the community that helped get you to where you are today.
