Building Business Relationships in 2022

If the past two years have taught us anything, it’s that connection impacts everything. From business strategy to mental health, the way we connect directs the way we do life.

Now that the world has shifted into a new normal and rhythm, we’re all looking for ways to connect that feel more healthy and authentic. As business owners, it’s never been more important to find fresh ways to build relationships and expand our network in meaningful ways.

So how do we do it? How do we connect in 2022 and build business relationships that not only last, but thrive. We want to go deeper and really get to the heart of our customers and clients.

At Copperheart, we’re branching out and considering how we can work towards this level of meaningful connection through out-of-the-box ways in 2022. Here are a few examples of how you can build business relationships that last this year.

1. Think outside of the networking event.

When it comes to making business connections, we’re all too familiar with networking events. While we did see an uptick in virtual options over the past few years, in-person is still alive and well and a great way to get involved. However, there are so many ways to get that relationship going that don’t require rushed small talk over bland coffee.

In 2022, we’re taking the networking mindset into our everyday lives! What does this look like? We’re being intentional about engaging with people around us. For example, if you’re stuck in line at the mechanic or coffee shop, why not strike up a conversation with someone around you?

Lean into those moments we often reach for our phone to distract us and start talking. Ask questions and work on your listening skills. Have your business card handy because you never know what those everyday interactions could produce!

2. Focus on well-being.

After 2020, the world became a little more mindful and began prioritizing mental health. We want to ensure this remains at the forefront of any business practice, so why not make it a focus when connecting with clients, customers, or even your team? Get intentional about asking after an employee’s well-being throughout the week.

Check-in on your clients in a more personal way. Offer your customers options or resources to support their mental health. Taking time to get real and take care of your people will not only expand your network, it will expand your heart.

3. Start volunteering.

One of the best ways to build real, lasting business relationships in 2022 is by offering your time to a cause you believe in. Volunteering is often a group activity, so you can invite your entire time to join in on the love!

When you volunteer as a local business, you have the opportunity to connect with other business owners who may have similar values. It’s a win for your heart, a win for your community, and a win for your business.

These are just a few of the ways we’ll be building business relationships in 2022, but there are so many more available to you! Think outside of the box, take a risk, and go confidently knowing you have so much to offer.
