Where To Focus When Building a New Business (2/3)
Last week we started a series on where to place your focus when building a brand new business. The process can feel daunting to any entrepreneur, as the to-do’s continue to pile up and the pressure mounts.
In part one, we discussed that the more important place to center your focus as you begin is on LEGAL. From trademarks to tax documents, getting those ducks in a row is key to starting strong!
Once you feel confident that legal is taken care of and all paperwork is in place or being processed, it’s time to move on to HOW those ducks should quack! And that’s what we’re here to discuss today.
This is the part where your creativity gets to really shine! After the legalities are covered, you can dig into the branding process and all that encompasses. For today, we’ll keep it simple by breaking that branding down into the first categories worth prioritizing: Visuals and voice.
1. Visuals
Strong, effective visuals are key to any memorable brand. So where do you start? When we begin working with a new business, we start with the color scheme and aesthetic. Knowing the desired look and feel helps us create a logo and other visuals that truly compliment the heart behind your brand. Yes, colors and graphics can do that!
Once we have your aesthetic down, we work through a logo and also offer various suggestions for your branded photography. So often, photography is overlooked, when in reality it can make or break your brand’s impact.
For example, when it comes to social media, you want your brand to be noticed and actions are taken on any image you upload. The best way to encourage this is through brand recognition. You want your customer to see your photo as they scroll and know, without a shadow of a doubt, that that’s your imagery. So yes, branded photography and graphics are key to getting your business out there effectively!
When it comes to visuals, keep it simple and keep the message clarified. It needs to be at the forefront of everything you create, from photography to website design. If you’re ready for this step, we’d love to help you! You can see our past portfolios with mood boards and other visuals on our website!
Now let’s move on to the second category worth prioritizing when you’re getting your branding ducks in a row!
2. Voice
Finding your business voice is a major part of the branding process. Why? Because if you’re unclear on how your business speaks, what they speak on, and who they speak to — simply put, you won’t have a business.
So let’s start with the WHO. Before you begin to put your new business to the test, who you're communicating with must be decided upon and committed to.
Consider your audience and how they quack! Who are they following? What brands are they currently engaging with? How do they speak? Who are they listening to? Once you begin to discover how your audience connects, you can begin to craft your voice in a powerful way!
When choosing what to speak on, again it must always be audience-forward. What does your demographic care about? What’s happening in the world that can connect your brand to their heart? What do they want more of? What do they stay away from? Be mindful and intentional with the words you choose and the stories you tell within your brand.
Voice matters. From your website copy to the way you engage on social media, it can set you apart or sink your ship. If you’re still unsure how to craft a voice that impacts your audience, we’d love to help you with this as well!
Branding can feel weighty, but in the end, it truly is the most powerful part of the process! A great brand can generate customer loyalty and have a major influence on its industry. It can change hearts and impact lives! It’s why we do what we do here at Copperheart.
It all begins and ends with HEART. So if it’s still feeling a bit overwhelming, just come back to that purpose. What’s the heart behind your business, and how can we best communicate that?
We’re always here to help with this process and simplify the stress! If you’d like to connect about your new business branding, let’s connect! We also have a full brand consultation package with an audit if that’s how you’d like to begin.
Next week, we’ll dig into part three of our focus series! We can’t wait to discuss WHERE your ducks should swim, and what that means for this season of your business!
