Building An Email Signature That Converts

As we continue this season of sheltering, email introductions are becoming more and more common. Coronavirus has encouraged a new way of working, communicating, and connecting. It’s so important that industries take the time to adjust and align not only their business strategy but their one-on-one interaction with clients and customers.

When it comes to email introductions, we’re all about a healthy blend of professionalism and personality! This is the first impression for many of your referrals, customers, or relationships, so throwing a little intention behind that “hello” is a great way to stand out and showcase your brand!

An email signature is a great place to start! When we’re building out a custom brand for a client, we always ask them to consider their email signature. Nine times out of ten, the follow-up question is, “What should an email signature include?”

Let’s begin by asking yourself a few questions: Do you currently have a signature for business? Is it clearly communicating who you are as a company or contractor? Does it draw attention? Is it easily read and understood? If you answered “no” to any of these questions, keep reading!

Let’s get down to basics. Email signatures should always be three things: professional, personable, and branded. The goal should be to offer those landing in your inbox all the information needed to contact and follow you and your business. Email signatures can add credibility and give you an extra boost of confidence every time you click ‘send’, so let’s break down a few ways to go above and beyond!

When you’re creating that custom email signature, here are a few things to consider adding:

✓ Your headshot.

Headshots are a great way to connect your communication with a personal touch. Providing a professional, inviting, and the high-resolution shot will throw some humanity behind the email and add credibility to your correspondence.

✓ Your brand.

Branding throughout your inbox is often overlooked, but it’s the secret weapon behind a memorable interaction! We love to see our clients show off their new, cohesive branding by adding a logo, brand colors, and other elements to email signatures!

✓ Your contact information.

This may seem like a no-brainer, but we’re leaving no stone unturned. How can your audience contact you? Important things to include: name, title, business name, phone and/or google number, website URL, office hours, address, etc.

✓ Your social icons.

More than ever, clients and customers are looking to connect beyond the inbox when deciding whether to work with you, so give them that opportunity! Adding your socials to an email signature will show a bit of transparency and offer them a chance to get personal with you and your brand.

✓ A freebie or video.

This one for the truly committed! Add an extra dose of creative credibility with a free offering or video showcasing your team and services. The Copperheart signature includes our “WHY” video that links to our website! Adding these elements is a great way to go further and share the heart behind your brand.

Email signatures may seem like a last-minute design, but they really can affect how your audience connects with you and your brand! This is the perfect time to revisit your current look and consider changes that may increase website clicks or deeper connections.
